Wallpaper Cuttlefish

The Pharaoh Cuttlefish (lat. Sepia pharaonis) at Richelieu Rock are some stunning creatures. They grow up to a size of more than 40cm and swim via jet propulsion. Also their skin mesmerizes your senses, when they change colours and patterns at dazzling speeds.
Luckily, I had the luck to observe their love life, which appears almost gentle and soft, when the male carefully conveys a package of sperm to the female with one of his tentacles. It almost seems as if he’d be caressing her. Only the jealous by by-stander had to watch out, as he was brutally chased away and had to flee as you can see on this wallpaper.
