Twin share room, decent accomodation with AC and fan, we have to clean our rooms, laundry available or washing machine at disposable, not much place to dry clothes. Common area with TV (sharing with 3 others rooms). Nice gym staff. Quality of canteen staff average, not healthy food and really indian oriented). Small discount for guest restaurant and spa however really difficult to get authorization to eat there. A staff bar with soft drinks and beers only. TV/game room. Staff shop for basic items.
Day off on the island as going to the capital Malé is complicated cause we need to collect our day off and need manager approval.
Wifi in the satff area, really slow, skype/videos arent working.
This is my second time in Maldives and living, work conditions can vary a lot regarding which islands one is. I am in a new resort, the only one in the atoll, and the weather conditions are not helpfull for diving, one the windiest atoll in Maldives. Not much dive sites and average quality make our duties difficult, as divers have high expectations for the diving in maldives. Low service charge for a 5 star resort. If you like to party and drink Maldives isnt a place for you. Be aware oft he fact that ist a muslim country and that you must respect the religion and local culture that can be really strong even in the resort. Still a place to save money as distractions are close to none ;). My previous experience in Maldives was totally different so, my advice: look for a well establish island/resort/dive center and ask for as much details as possible before coming in Maldives!
Happy diving !
